CU Business Group announces the upcoming retirement of Julie Engen, Senior Vice President of Credit Administration, after a decade of dedicated service to CUBG. Julie will officially retire at the end of June, closing out a 41-year career in commercial banking.

Julie joined CUBG in 2015 as Vice President/Business Loan Officer with expertise spanning all aspects of business lending. In 2021 she was promoted to SVP of Credit Administration. As the leader of the Credit Administration department, Julie guided the underwriting and management of loans, providing invaluable counsel to CUBG credit union clients on loan structure, pricing, and portfolio management. Her keen analytical eye and commitment to excellence have left a lasting imprint on CUBG.

“Julie and I started working at CUBG around the same time, and being on this journey with her has been an absolute honor,” says CUBG CEO Justin Conrey. “Her deep knowledge of credit analysis is second to none, and her expertise and attention to detail have been an inspiration to her colleagues as well as the credit unions she works with.”

Julie’s impact extends far beyond her technical expertise—she has also served as a mentor and role model, always willing to lend her knowledge, guidance, and support to colleagues and industry peers.

Reflecting on her time at CUBG, Julie shares: “I’ve enjoyed working with credit unions all over the country and educating employees on the minute details of commercial lending. Seeing the industry grow and develop has been rewarding, and I have enjoyed being a part of that growth by implementing quality underwriting practices.”

Julie’s leadership, mentorship, and commitment to the success of credit unions and commercial lending have shaped the industry and organization. CUBG expresses its deepest gratitude for Julie’s contributions and wishes her the very best in her well-earned retirement.
